Ses Salines of Ibiza and Formentera
The Nature Park of Ses Salines d’Eivissa i Formentera comprises a unique set of terrestrial and marine habitats of high ecological, landscape, historical and cultural value.
Its ecological uniqueness lies in the presence of marine prairies of oceanic Posidonia, declared world heritage by UNESCO, which contribute to the maintenance of fish stocks and the protection of the beaches against erosion, at the same time maintaining the dune ecosystems.
In the Park you can see countless species of migratory birds, which take advantage of the gaps created by the extractive activity of salt developed over centuries in the Pitiusas Islands for nesting and resting in the course of their migrations.
El Parc Natural de Ses Salines certainly deserves a visit, but the fragility of ecosystems has forced the Administration to regulate traffic circulation within the Park. It is important to respect speed limits, not to drive on unauthorised roads and park only in authorised areas. The use of electric vehicles contributes to minimizing the environmental impact on the ecosystem.
In Formentera you can access the Park by the PM-820 to la Savina. Parking areas are free of charge for electric vehicles.
From Ibiza, it is easily accessible from the beach at Ses Salines in the South of the island. It is important to remember that in the Natural Park you must be strictly respectful with signage that indicate places where mud baths or diving are not allowed.
