Make your journey more sustainable

Ibiza

The largest of the Pitiüses is known worldwide for the festive atmosphere of its summer nights. However, Ibiza has an exceptionally rich natural and cultural heritage that deserved inclusion in the Eivissa, biodiversity and culture site, declared World Heritage by Unesco in 1999.

The local government of Consell insular d'Eivissa attempts to promote a more sustainable tourismenhancing the natural attractions of the rural interior and promoting family tourism.

The use of electric car to drive through the quiet roads of the island, while discovering the inland villages and some hidden coves is a good way to contribute to sustainability and to enjoy the beauty of some little crowded corners.

.

The northeast of Ibiza

If you have rented an electric car in Ibiza, we recommend a route through the northeast of the island that will allow you to enjoy the landscape, culture and impressive views over the sea.

We suggest you to start the day at Las Dalias, where you can charge your car while you relax in a bar terrace or take a walk through the Saturday hippy market.

From the Dalias, follow the road PM – 810 towards Aigües Blanques, sheltered by cliffs there is a white sand beach which is very popular among nudists.

From Aigües Blanques to Cala de Sant Vicenç, the road offers spectacular views over the Mediterranean. Don’t miss this stretch of panoramic road with your electric car!

The road to Sant Joan de Labritja flows through a wooded area which is rare on the island. You can enjoy nature and visit somewhere truly rural, Sant Joan and Sant Miquel de Balansat.

Go back to the coast to visit Port de Sant Miquel, the famous Cala Benirrás, known for its hippie atmosphere and the Can Marçà cave which is popular with tourists.

.

Ses Salines of Ibiza and Formentera

The Nature Park of Ses Salines d’Eivissa i Formentera comprises a unique set of terrestrial and marine habitats of high ecological, landscape, historical and cultural value.

Its ecological uniqueness lies in the presence of marine prairies of oceanic Posidonia, declared world heritage by UNESCO, which contribute to the maintenance of fish stocks and the protection of the beaches against erosion, at the same time maintaining the dune ecosystems.

In the Park you can see countless species of migratory birds, which take advantage of the gaps created by the extractive activity of salt developed over centuries in the Pitiusas Islands for nesting and resting in the course of their migrations.

El Parc Natural de Ses Salines certainly deserves a visit, but the fragility of ecosystems has forced the Administration to regulate traffic circulation within the Park. It is important to respect speed limits, not to drive on unauthorised roads and park only in authorised areas. The use of electric vehicles contributes to minimizing the environmental impact on the ecosystem.

In Formentera you can access the Park by the PM-820 to la Savina. Parking areas are free of charge for electric vehicles.

From Ibiza, it is easily accessible from the beach at Ses Salines in the South of the island. It is important to remember that in the Natural Park you must be strictly respectful with signage that indicate places where mud baths or diving are not allowed.

.

Ibiza – Es Amunts

Ibiza is the perfect place to explore in an electric car. At the wheel of your Renault ZOE you will discover little-frequented corners and visit small villages where you can enjoy the most authentic parts of the island.

We recommend you visit an area called Es Amunts, along the mountainous axis of tramontana where the terrain gives rise to a diverse landscape.

The spectacular cliffs are the ideal refuge for numerous birds and serve as protection to various endemic plant species, the reason why part of the area was declared of special protection in 1991.

In these fertile inland valleys you will find small villages that retain all the charm of the true rural Ibiza.

And of course, along the road you can stop at Virgin beaches where, even in higher season, you will feel away from the bustle of other parts of the island.

We suggest you do this route in two days, the first part from Sant Antoni de Portmany to Port de Sant Miquel and the second day from Port de Sant Miquel to Cala Sant Vicenç. But if you have less time, it is possible to do both routes in a single day.

.
